Watercolour artists from all over the world participate in the Hahnemühle 2011 Calendar competition. (English version)
| A true flood of some 2000 pictures has been sent to Hahnemühle - all suiting the maritime motto ‘Water, Wind and Waves' of this year's painting contest. In the fourth calendar competition - that is held internationally, by now - 700 artists from 14 countries grabbed their Hahnemühle watercolour paper, colours and paint brushes to create their competition entries. During the first screening, the jury was truly impressed by the vast range of subjects: wuthering surf in Scotland, romantic tarns in the Alps, colourful fisher boats in Mediterranean harbours, cragged fjord sceneries in Scandinavia, sunny breaches in Brazil - and far more.
260 of the entries made it to the final round. Now, an international jury comprising three artists will choose the 12 winning pictures for the Hahnemühle Art Calendar. Hahnemühle's Rana Ardal-Altun is delighted with both the variety and the quality of the competition entries: "Just in time for Christmas, our calendar - representing a not-for-sale collectors' item with a print run of about 2000 copies - will be sent to Hahnemühle customers and friends. And - quite obviously - to the winners, too. In addition, they will also be supplied with creativity utensils such as colours and paint brushes provided by our partner companies Schmincke and da Vinci." End of 2010, the 12 winning pictures also can be admired in the Hahnemühle internet gallery under the menu item Creative & Informative. At the same time, Hahnemühle already is looking for the motto for the 2012 painting contest. So make sure that you don't miss the announcement! |
