TIPA and BIPP Awards – International Acclaim for Hahnemühle Digital FineArt Papers

In time to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Hahnemühle Digital FineArt Collection the quality of the papers has once again been acknowledged by two renowned institutes: the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) and the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) have awarded the Hahnemühle papers as “Best Fine Art Inkjet Paper” and “Best Inkjet Papers”. Hahnemühle is proud to receive both these independent awards for its unique artists’ papers which are used by renowned artists to print digital art reproductions, exclusive fine art photo images and original digital art works using inkjet techniques for museums, galleries and collectors. The Hahnemühle Digital FineArt Collection has already won the TIPA award in 2005 in the category “Best Fine Art Inkjet Photo paper” – the first and only paper in the history of TIPA to receive this award.

In conferring this second award this year the 31 European photo magazines from 12 countries represented by the Technical Image Press Association have once again confirmed the quality of the elxclusive artists’ papers from Hahnemühle, that give fine art prints a unique look and feel. The paper from the Digital FineArt Collection was once again awarded the prize as “Best Fine Art Inkjet Paper “, for its consistent quality, brilliant print results and for the longevity of the genuine natural papers with premium inkjet coating. For this year’s TIPA awards Hahnemühle submitted the latest fine art inkjet paper “Photo Rag Pearl® 320”, a natural white, pure cotton linters paper with a smooth surface structure and a pearl finish for warm toned, colour and detailed inkjet prints.

The second Hahnemühle paper quality to receive an award from the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) also belongs to this “new generation” of high end fine art papers that are being developed at the request of many photographers as a digital alternative to traditional photo papers. The bright white “FineArt Pearl 285” was awarded the prize as “Best Inkjet Paper” in the reader survey carried out by the Association of British Professional Photographers with 3500 members representing every photographic genre. The paper, made from pure alpha cellulose, stands out due to the bright white tone of the paper and a large colour gamut for high contrast inkjet prints.

Both papers belong to the Digital FineArt Collection from market leader Hahnemühle that has expanded over the past 10 years to encompass 21 media. All the fine art papers are certified genuine fine art papers manufactured exclusively at the long-established Hahnemühle paper mill, and comply with the highest archival standards. Following a centuries old tradition Hahnemühle artists’ papers are manufactured from premium alpha cellulose or fine cotton linters and pure spring water in the Hahnemühle paper mill founded in 1584.

The papers are manufactured using the traditional mould made technique on either a cylinder mould machine or a Fourdrinier machine at Hahnemühle. Whilst premium natural raw materials endow the variously textured papers with a palpably elegant feel and guarantee their age resistance, the production process and the premium inkjet coating lend a unique look and ensure extraordinary print results using the inks of all leading inkjet print manufacturers.
