Hahnemühle FineArt has received the TIPA Award 2005 from the Technical Image Press Association for its Digital Fine Art papers. The “Oscar” of the European Photo & Imaging Industry was given to the whole range of 22 qualities of artists’ Inkjet papers. All Hahnemühle medias are meet the highest standards of colour brilliance and age resistance.
Since 1584, Hahnemühle’s papermakers have been proving that they superbly master the old craft: uniquely beautiful papers are created from pure spring water and first-class pulps, the same today as over 400 years ago. Since 1997 the classic artists’ papers have been finished and coated for InkJet printing to combine the precision of state-of-the-art photo papers with the wonderful elegance of artists’ papers. The Digital FineArt papers also appeal due to their high colour reproduction for digital prints and are especially suitable for fine art, computer generated work as well as for photographic reproductions.
The Hahnemühle papers work equally well with thermal and piezo technology and with both dye and pigmented inks, providing a colour intensity and crispness not possible with non-coated art papers. The felt marked structure of the Fine Art papers create a range of various textures and depth in comparison to plain and glossy photo papers. Furthermore the Hahnemühle Digital Fine Art papers are extremely light- and age resistant if original UV-pigmented inks are used.
Hahnemühle has also submitted four new paper qualities out of the whole Digital FineArt Collection to the TIPA jury of 31 editors from leading European photo and imaging magazines for their own printing tests. The new “White Etching 268gsm” corresponds to the original and most successful paper from Hahnemühle in the InkJet market. The paper is bright white with a surface like “German Etching” and has 25 percent cotton rag content.
As an additional speciality product, Hahnemühle also launches “White Etching Satin 270” with a weight of 270 gsm to complement the introduction of this new surface. The satin version of the paper produces a semi gloss shine on the printed part of an image. This paper is predestined for photography or reproductions of oil and acrylic paintings because the typical glossy shine of the original appears also on the printed image.
The TIPA also awarded another new Hahnemühle quality: the „Photo Rag Bright White 310“. Our most popular digital fine art paper, Photo Rag is now available in bright white. This 100 percent cotton rag paper with its highly smooth surface and fine structure is especially suitable for high contrast photographic prints with great colour rendition.
A final addition to the range, „Photo Rag Satin 310“ is launched. A paper which produces a semi gloss shine on the printed area. Again the unprinted part remains matte.
The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) was founded in 1991 as an independent Association of European photo and imaging magazines. At present, with 31 member magazines from twelve countries, TIPA presents a monthly readership of around eight million. Once a year, all the editors and/or technical editors meet to vote for the “Best Photo and Imaging Products in Europe”.
