Etching

This technique requires soft, absorbent surfaces. Before being printed the paper is dampened. This makes it more pliable to be able to reproduce the finest details. The raised printed lines can be felt after the ink is dry. The relief is made up partly of color and partly from the printed lines in the paper that are clearly visible on the reverse.
