The French firm Lana can, like the German company Hahnemühle, lay claim to being one of the oldest paper producers in Europe. Lana was founded in 1590 in the Vosges area near the Gallo-Roman settlement Villa Lana. In 1872 the factory was established in Strasbourg. In 2007 the LANA Papiers Spéciaux company was founded. Since then Hahnemühle FineArt GmbH has been a strong partner for the worldwide distribution of Lana art papers.
Alongside traditional fine art papers for painting and drawing, Lana also produces graphical papers for presentations, publications and business stationery. In addition, premium packaging papers, security papers and technical papers also form part of the product range. In Strasbourg 86 employees produce around 12,000 tonnes of paper per year.
